The MTA Retired Gathering provides a great opportunity to gain new skills, make friends, reconnect with colleagues, use your voice to advocate for our students and schools, and hear from MTA leaders.

2023 Retired Members Gathering

Please join us for MTA’s 2023 Retired Members Gathering, with many exciting workshops including topics such as sexuality and aging, climate change, and the history of the Reverse Freedom Rides. Additionally, an engaging lunch program will feature a keynote presentation entitled “Libraries and Liberty” by attorney Bill Newman from the ACLU of Massachusetts. The Retired Members Gathering is a great way to reconnect, make new friendships, learn, and have some fun!

8:30 - 9:15a.m.	Registration and breakfast
9:15 - 10:00 a.m.	Event Welcome/Kickoff Join us for opening remarks by MTA President Max Page, Vice President Deb McCarthy and Retired Members Committee Chair Patrick Patterson with a musical performance by the Wisdom Warriors.
10:00 - 11:30a.m.	Morning Workshops Choose 1 of 3 sessions on topics ranging from MCAS to strikes to a cultural presentation from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
11:45 - 1:30p.m.	Lunch Program Enjoy an engaging lunch program with a keynote by Attorney Bill Newman from the ACLU of Massachusetts on "Libraries and Liberty." Also, a presentation of the Retired Legislative Agenda by Paul McClory, Director of MTA Grassroots Campaigns.
1:45 - 3:15p.m.	Afternoon Workshops Choose 1 of 3 sessions on topics including sexuality and aging, climate change and the Reverse Freedom Rides.
